Joint Coalition of Physicians in South Asia Region

APPNA (Association of Physicians of Pakistani Descent of North America), AAPI (American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin) and BMANA (Bangladesh Medical Association of North America) have joined forces to expand and support physicians globally with an emphasis on the South Asia region. APPNA reports that this coalition of more than 130,000 South Asian Physicians of North America (SAPNA) constitutes about 15% of the physician workforce in the United States.

The coalition will focus on:

  • increasing the residency slots for foreign medical graduates,
  • visa issues, and
  • health care issues of South Asian people in North America and South Asia.
