Rewards and Challenges of Working as a Physician in the United States

What do physicians in the United States find most rewarding and most challenging about their work? According to the Medscape Physician Compensation Report 2018*, 27% of physicians surveyed ranked their relationships with patients as one of the most rewarding parts of their job. The same percentage of physicians cited frustration with the number of rules and regulations that they need to follow as the most challenging part of their job.

The survey gathered responses from more than 20,000 physicians in 29 specialties. You can check out U.S. physician salary trends based on specialty, race/ethnicity, geographic location, and more in the Medscape Physician Compensation Report 2018*.

IMG Residency Preparation Program in Minnesota

An innovative program in Minnesota seeks to help immigrant IMGs holding legal residency in that state prepare for application and/or entry to U.S. residency programs while increasing access to primary care in rural and underserved areas of the state. Minnesota’s IMG Residency Preparation Program, through a network of organizations, provides access to career guidance, exam preparation, medical language proficiency, electronic medical record and accent modification courses (if needed), and support with residency applications.
